The NEC4: Engineering and Construction Subcontract (ECS) is intended for use in appointing a subcontractor where the contractor has been appointed under the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract.  Contractors are encouraged to use ECS4 to ensure their risks and liabilities are passed back to back down the supply chain with their subcontractors for the parts of the works they are responsible for.
