NEC3 to NEC4
NEC3 has made a substantial impact to the engineering and construction industries, in particular, by encouraging people to do things differently and better. It has been 12 years since NEC3 was released, and the NEC team has received comments and requests for features and contract solutions from a network of over 300 companies that are actively involved via the NEC3 Users’ Group, as well as from clients in general. Hence NEC4 training.
NEC4 has improved on the successful NEC3 contract suite by adding additional features and contract types. All of the adjustments are a direct result of industry feedback, in order to support methodologies and deliver solutions that clients require.
NEC3 has been transformative on the South African Construction industry. The adoption of NEC3 contracts put collaboration and collective risk sharing as the foundation for modern procurement. The introduction of NEC4 Training will take this development to a new level.
These high profile projects were procured under NEC3:
Sol Plaatje
Wits and Mpumalanga Universities

These NEC contracts have proven that even large, high-risk, complicated projects can be delivered on time and within budget.
NEC4 contracts reflect procurement and project management developments and emerging best practice. They include improvements in flexibility, clarity and the ease of administration. NEC4
