Amplats contract off to a good start
Our mandate to provide PMO Assurance services to Anglo American Platinum, the world’s leading primary producer of Platinum Group Metals, is progressing well.
“Being competitive comes down to operating as efficiently as possible,” says Neville Eve, ECS’ Programme Manager on the 3-year contract. “In order to provide appropriate advice that adds value to our client, the initial focus over the first 2 months was to gain insight into Amplats’ Stay-in-Business (SIB) Capital Projects policies, processes, procedures and systems.

Now that the initial factfinding phase is complete, and with critical relationships with key Amplats SIB personnel formed, and systems knowledge gained, ECS is poised to provide specific capital project delivery assurance advice to our client.

Pressure on commodity prices resulted in lower-than-anticipated results for the mining giant over the last financial year. This led to a critical review of its capital spend and the postponement of a significant number of planned projects.
